I just heard the news and was coming here to post. Monterey Jazz Fest would not exist but for him and his efforts early on to help get it off the ground. Was fortunate enough to see him several times over the years and it was always time well spent.

Was just about to post this, but you beat me to it.

Not my favorite jazz artist, but an innovator nonetheless. Amazing that he almost made it to 92. I guess if drugs don't get you, the music keeps you alive a long time.

When my sister and I first heard this song in the late 60s we immediately looked at each other and said, "Brubeck!", even though ultimately it's quite different, but the influence was there:

A few years ago this great drummer passed on, he was not too shabby either. This Quartet was my intro into jammin

Man, Im a little stunned by this. My Dad used to play Take Five for me when I was very young.

Every pair of home speakers I have bought in the last 25 years I have used a copy of Take Five as the barometer for sound.

RIP Mr. Brubeck.

Brubeck was my Father's "Jerry Garcia". I wish I still had his old record collection, would be worth something today.

I really dig the odd time signature stuff.

91 - a helluva run for a product of the era of heavy smoking & drinking. Kudos man.

Grew up with him and his contemporaries on dad's McIntosh system. Good stuff.
